I peed a little when I sneezed tonight and thought to myself, "I am my mother."
I love the feeling of sweat dripping down my back after I get off the elliptical. Gross, I know.
I do NOT like when I'm on the elliptical and I'm turning purple because I'm working out so hard I can't breath and Daisy farts and I have to breath it in through my mouth because if I try to close my mouth I'll surely pass out and fall off the elliptical and die. Again, gross, I know.
I need to paint my fingernails. Having my nails polished makes me feel "put together" even though I almost never really am.
We have started some cereal and baby food! The pediatrician asked us to wait until the twins were six months to start since they were so small and at the bottom of the growth chart. We don't go back for their six month appointment until May 1st but we decided to start practicing a little. It was a disaster the first day, as expected, and is getting a little better every day!
Here are some pictures from the first attempt.
We have decided they like baby food better than the oatmeal or rice cereal, I think because of the texture. But we'll keep trying different things. We did make some of our own baby food but I think it is too thick and they are doing better with Gerber for now.
It is crazy to think a half year has gone by already. We love you both so much and couldn't imagine our lives without you!
Ainsley: You are still Daddy's girl. You just light up
when he talks to you or makes funny faces at you. You have such a sweet
little voice and talk so quietly but persistently. You are rolling
over from your back to your belly now and we often find you sleeping on
your belly when we go in your room in the morning. You are eating 6
ounces every four hours during the day and still sleeping through the
night. We also just started some baby food and you are learning how to
eat from a spoon. So far we have tried oatmeal which you didn't seem to
like the texture of and sweet potatoes which you liked. You are
getting over your first ear infection and have been fussy because of
that but you take your medicine so good. You weigh 14lbs 5oz. You are
wearing 6 month clothes and size 2 diapers.
Benson: You are our happy boy! You almost
never cry or fuss. You talk all the time and you can be quite loud!
You just started sticking out your tongue (as in the picture above) and
it is THE cutest thing! We are working on tummy time a lot with you and
trying to get you to put more weight on your left arm. You are sitting
up with support very well and like to look around and observe things.
You are eating 6-7 ounces every four hours during the day and still
sleeping through the night. You are not a napper, you will cat nap for
maybe 20-30 minutes a couple times a day. You have also tried oatmeal,
which you didn't love, and sweet potatoes, which you seemed to really
like! You weigh _____*. You are wearing 6 month clothes and size 2
diapers.
We think you two are just about the cutest little babies there are and we love you SO much!
*Will put in Ben's weight after their weight check Thursday.
Ben: You have changed so much the past month! You have really become a different baby. You are so happy and smiley all the time right now. You love "talking" to everyone and lately you only fuss when you get hungry otherwise you are always happy. Mom and Dad are LOVING it! You have also become quite the little eater! You are taking 6 ounces every four hours during the day and you have progressed to tolerating ALL breast milk WITH dairy which makes Mom super happy! You are still spitting up a lot but you don't seem to mind and you usually smile when you do it in fact. We are going to try switching you from Ranitidine to Prevacid to see if that helps. You weigh 11lbs 7oz. You are wearing size 3 month clothes and some 6 month and are ready to switch to size 2 diapers.
Ainsley: You are our big girl! You are growing so fast and we love watching you do new things every day! You are so happy and smiley and you are absolutely in love with your Daddy! You just adore him and love when he talks to you and gives you zerbits! You are laughing more and it just fills our hearts up. You are eating about 5 ounces every four hours during the day. You are starting to sleep well again after a brief period of getting up to eat during the night. You weigh 12lbs 3oz. You are wearing size 3 month clothes and are in size 2 diapers.
We love you both so much!
One of my favorite parts of the day is bedtime. We have a routine we learned from Moms on Call that we really love. We started doing this shortly after both babies were home from the hospital and it has worked very well for us.
At about 7:30pm we make bottles and head upstairs. We bathe both babies and get them put into their jammies. Then we feed them their bottles in their room with the lights down low (we have a dimmer) and the white noise machine on. Then we put them in their beds and turn off the lights and head out. They nearly always go right to sleep! I don't know if the Moms on Call method is the secret or if we are just blessed with good sleepers. It's probably a combination of both.
Anyway, it is really a great time because it is so peaceful and while we are feeding them it is a great chance for Jeremy and I to sit and talk which we don't have tons of time for otherwise.
A little video - I think I love the videos more than the pictures, such a great way to remember exactly what they looked like each month!
They are getting so big and seem to be growing up and doing new things all the time! We are so in love with them!
Ainsley: You are such a big girl! You are really liking to be held upright more and look around at everything. You are eating about 4-5oz of breast milk every four hours during the day. You mostly sleep through the night, going to bed about 8:30pm and sleeping until about 5am. Usually we have to wake you up in the morning. You are wearing size 3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. We have just started using the Bumbo seat and you sit in it for up to about twenty minutes at a time.
Benson: You are our sweet boy! You are becoming less fussy and we are loving that! You are eating 4-5oz every four hours during the day and you are currently on 3oz of breast milk mixed with 2oz of soy formula. You are sleeping well through the night, going to bed about 8:30pm and sleeping until about 5am. You are wearing size 3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. You have started sitting in the Bumbo seat and enjoying the playmat more.
We love you two so much!
*I've had a couple people ask - we use Sticky Belly stickers for these pictures. They are stickers we put on plain white onesies. I ordered them online here.
Finally we are all feeling better! I better knock on wood really fast before we get sick again!
Both babies have really started talking more lately. Ben just the last couple of days has become quite the chatterbox. It is so cute! He just goes on and on...
Ainsley is a little more quiet with her talking but will still get going pretty good. Of course every time I grab the camera to record it she stops and just stares at the camera - silly girl!
They will be four months this Saturday! In some ways it feels like they have been a part of our lives forever but in others it has just flown by. Life is strange like that.
Here are some big babies in the Bumbos:
Did you know that 100% of the profits from Bumbo International go to help less fortunate children? I had know idea until we bought the second Bumbo (we got the first one at a garage sale - yes, we buy things at garage sales) and I read it on the box. Pretty cool, huh?
Playing on the play mat:
Caught a smile from Ben:
Sweet Ben sleeping. Aren't all babies so sweet when they sleep?
Well, there's a little baby fix until we take their 4 month pictures! Hope you all are doing well!
